Week 2 Assignment, Part 2

I believe that the Texas long-range plan for technology for 2020 provides a goal and focus for the state to strive for, including the teachers, administrators, students and parents. The long-range plan for students is for them to use technology on a daily basis knowing they will be prepared to thrive in a global workforce through engagement in academic, real world endeavors through the use of 24/7 technology. The Plan encompasses a welcoming atmosphere for the use of technology on a 24/7 basis for all involved. Educators will be able to develop new learning environments that will use technology flexibly in the classroom and incorporates interactive and customized lessons. Instructional leaders will implement and develop a budget that requires technology in the classroom. Administrators can expect more effective and efficient use of resources and increased communication and participation in the educational decision-making process through the use of anytime, anywhere digital tools and resources and will provide time for professional development and the encouragement of using technology in the classroom. Our campus falls short in the area of teaching and learning with technology with core teachers. Our campus needs to do a better job of developing and maintaining technology use and teaching these tools to the teachers that are used to the old ways of teaching. In the category of Infrastructure for Technology distance learning capacity, we had our greatest weakness all three years observed. We don’t have distance-learning support except for teachers opting to attach assignments to their online grade book and this needs to change to offer alternative options for those students taking on adult roles in the home. Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support communication & collaboration were our greatest strength all three years observed. Our school administration really tries hard for the kids and for our teachers. We just need to focus on getting everyone up to speed and utilizing tool that will help our students succeed.
